Make Government Work for Everyone

Meet Noreen McKee

I’m Noreen McKee, your Democratic and Working Families Party-endorsed candidate for Troy City Council in District 4. As a longtime Troy resident, community advocate and former CPA with over 25 years of financial expertise, I’m running to ensure our city government works for everyoneβ€”building a stronger, more vibrant Troy together.

My Background

Professionally, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience as a certified public accountant, auditor and small business owner in the financial industry. I know how to lead a business with accountability, transparency, and fiscal responsibilityβ€”skills I’ll bring to City Council.

Public service is at the heart of my life’s work. Early on, I started as a social worker and taught indigenous children in rural Alaska. After retiring from the private sector and creating a home in Troy, I became active within the community, serving on the boards of Unity House, the League of Women Voters of Rensselaer County, and as the President of the Justice Center of Rensselaer County.

Fighting for Troy

I’m laser-focused on Troy’s financial health. Last December, I raised concerns about the missing 2024 quarterly financial reports and urged the City Council to delay the 2025 budget vote until we had transparency. How can the City Council pass a budget without the numbers from the previous year?

Troy has recently emerged from a painful 25 year period of austerity, having paid off massive debt from decades of mismanagement. After years of hard work to restore Troy’s financial health, we cannot afford to backslide into a crisis requiring state intervention. Protecting our city’s economic and social future is essential to the growth and well-being of Troy. I’ll keep pushing to protect our progress.

I’ve worked hard to make Troy better for all of us. When Troy’s voters needed better access to the ballot box, I led the successful campaign to bring early voting to our cityβ€”making it easier for working families, people of color, and those relying on public transit to make their voices heard. And when the Burdett Birth Center was on the brink of closing, I testified before Attorney General Letitia James to fight for its survival.

If elected, I’ll work tirelessly to:

Protect Troy’s Financial Health

Expand Affordable Housing For All

Fix Neglected Infrastructure & Replace Lead Pipes

Promote Sound Development That Benefits Everyone

Make Your City Government Work For You

Let’s Build Troy’s Future Together

I’m asking for your support, your ideas, and your partnership. Let’s connectβ€”I want to hear your concerns and work side by side to move Troy forward.

With gratitude,

Noreen McKee
